Huntington County Health Department has an opening for a Public Health Nurse
Responsibilities include managing the vaccination clinic and administering immunizations to infants, children and adults. The Public Health Nurse also provides other clinic needs such as lice checks and removal, pregnancy tests and TB tests. The Public Health Nurse will also administer point of care of lead testing and follow up with reported elevated lead levels, work public health fairs providing blood pressure reading, diabetes screening, immunizations, and information/instruction as needed as well as any necessary contact tracing.
Candidates must have Baccalaureate Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. Current Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse license in Indiana is required. Must be current in CPR and TB certifications. Must be at least 21 years old. Must have working knowledge of public health laws, accepted principles and practices of Public Health nursing and immunizations. Previous experience in pediatric immunizations is recommended.
Successful candidates must have excellent communication, organization and computer skills. Must be able to work on a variety of tasks, understand the rules of confidentiality, as well as understand various types of medical terms. Must be comfortable working with the public.
The Huntington County Health Department is open from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, which is a typical schedule with some variations as needed. Annual pay is up to $62,285.43, based on qualifications and experience.
